Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH) continues to raise the bar for exceptional healthcare on the East End. This year, the hospital and its dedicated team earned national recognition for patient safety, clinical quality, and outstanding outcomes across several specialties.

We are proud to share that the Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart & Stroke Center has been honored for the 12th consecutive year by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association through the Get With The Guidelines® program. In 2025, the Center received the Stroke Gold Plus Award, along with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognitions—reflecting our commitment to evidence-based practices and strengthened stroke care for our community.

Stony Brook Medicine (SBM)—which includes Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Stony Brook University Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital—has also received the highest level of achievement from Healthgrades as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 2025. Healthgrades evaluates the three hospitals collectively as part of the Stony Brook Medicine system, placing SBM among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical excellence.

In addition, Stony Brook University Hospital—evaluated together with SBSH and SBELIH as part of the system—was recognized by Healthgrades for excellence across multiple specialties for 2026. These honors include ranking among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care, Cardiac Care, Coronary Intervention, and Joint Replacement. Notably, Stony Brook is the only hospital in New York State to receive the Stroke Care distinction for 11 consecutive years.
