Advancing Care on the East End
Stony Brook Southampton Hospital continues to expand access to advanced, high-quality care for the East End community—driven by clinical excellence, innovation, and the strength of philanthropic support.
For the fourth consecutive year, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH), as part of Stony Brook Medicine, has been named one of Healthgrades’ America’s 50 Best Hospitals® for 2026—placing it among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide for overall care excellence. Stony Brook Medicine is the only health system on Long Island to receive this distinction. This recognition reflects the collective performance of Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, underscoring a consistent standard of care across the system and reinforcing the strength of services available on the East End.
Building on this national recognition, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and Stony Brook University Hospital were also named to Castle Connolly’s 2026 Top Hospitals list. Selected from more than 6,000 hospitals nationwide, only 1,663 institutions received this distinction, recognizing overall excellence as well as performance across key specialties and procedures. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital was specifically recognized with National and State Specialty Awards in OB/GYN Surgery and National and State Procedure Awards in C-Section.

Innovation in clinical care is strengthened by the power of community partnership. Women’s health services on the East End continue to advance through the leadership of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, which has provided a significant grant to support breast health services at the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
Administered through the Southampton Hospital Foundation, this funding enhances advanced imaging technology, strengthens diagnostic capabilities, provides emergency patient assistance, and helps remove barriers to care—including support for the Shinnecock Pink Shawl Project and patient transportation services. Together, these commitments help ensure equitable access to timely, high-quality breast care for our community.
