A History of Community Generosity
Established in 1996, the Southampton Hospital Foundation (SHF) is the fundraising arm of the Southampton Hospital Association (SHA). SHA was established in 1909 to ensure the East End community’s access to emergency care. Since then, SHA has been a vital community resource, which supports Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, the only full-service hospital on the South Fork of Long Island. SHA owns and maintains the buildings and real estate where the hospital and many of its satellite services operate.
Through our fundraising initiatives, the Southampton Hospital Foundation has been instrumental in providing essential support to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Paulson Family Emergency Department, Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart & Stroke Center, Kathleen D. Allen Maternity Center, The Phillips Family Cancer Center, and most recently, the new Stony Brook Medicine East Hampton Off-Campus Emergency Department.
The work of the Southampton Hospital Foundation is made possible by the generosity of our donors. Sponsorship and support of our signature annual fundraising events—the Summer Party, the East Hampton Emergency Department Luncheon, the Summer of Wellness, and the Golf Outing—is vital in helping us to achieve our goals and advance our mission.
The Southampton Hospital Foundation concentrates its efforts on increasing critical philanthropic support to ensure high-quality healthcare for all of our neighbors on the East End.
Supporting Exceptional Healthcare on the East End
The Southampton Hospital Foundation, Inc. is a separate nonprofit corporation with an independent Board of Trustees that works in close partnership with the Southampton Hospital Association and plays a vital role in fundraising, and in overseeing and managing funds. Our fundraising work is independent of the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system; all funds raised by SHF benefit Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and its associated South Fork departments, centers, and satellite facilities that serve our local community.
